Cummins develops very fast in China. Numerous initiatives generated from joint efforts. Instead of simply introducing the existing product catalog, Cummins cooperates with its local partners to adapting the engine products, or designing new platforms tailored for the local demand. For example, to meet the market desire for low-emission, high-efficiency engines, Cummins is working with Chinese partners to develop three brand-new diesel engine platforms, including two new light-duty diesel engines by the company's joint venture with Foton, and a new 13-liter heavy-duty engine jointly developed with Dongfeng.

Leveraging its worldwide experience and leadership with a wide range of proven technologies, Cummins aims to establish first-class research and development capabilities to identify innovative solutions to address the local demand. It built up tech centers in China by partnering with local OEMs. Furthermore, Cummins also entered a partnership with Tsinghua University on the joint development of diesel technologies.
